XAT 2017 vs CAT 2016: How the question patterns differ

XAT 2017 vs CAT 2016: How the question patterns differ

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2017 is scheduled to be held on January 8,  2017 while Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 will be conducted on December 4, 2016. Both the entrance exams XAT 2017 and CAT 2016 exam are conducted for admissions to B-schools.  While XAT 2017 will be conducted across India in the following cities Agartala, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Berhampur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa.

Aspirants who are appearing for XAT 2017 will need to appear for Paper 1 which will consist of Verbal and logical reasoning, Decision making, quantitative ability and date interpretation while Paper 2 General Knowledge, essay writing . The Paper I of Verbal and Logical Ability will have 26 questions, while the total marks is 26 marks. The total time is 170 minutes.

For decision making session, there will be a total of 23 marks, quantitative ability and date interpretation will have 29 questions while total marks is 29. While The Paper 2, the general knowledge will have 25 questions and the total marks for the candidates will be 25 marks. For essay writing, the aspirants will be given 1 essay. The total time for Paper I is 170 Minutes while for Paper 2, the total time is 35 marks. It is also important to note that for Paper I there will be negative marking of 0.25 for any wrong answer, 0.05 for more than 13 unattempted questions. While for CAT 2016, For CAT 2016 exam pattern, the duration of the test will be 3 hours. The total number of sections will be 3. The sectional duration of the exam is 1 hour while the total number of questions is 100. The marks per question is 3 while the negative marking for wrong questions is -1. For the CAT 2016 exam structure, there will be 3 sections like Verbal Ability and Ready Comprehension (VARC) and there will be a total of 34 number of questions. For data interpretation and logical reasoning (DI and LR)32, for quantitative ability there will be 34 questions. According to the CAT exam pattern, the non-MCQs or questions without any answer choice would be present this year as well.
