Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday said the impeachment motion against Lokman Singh Karki, chief of the anti-graft constitutional body, is a natural response to his acts of vendetta, and his “unconstitutional” style of functioning. He said all the major parties are unified over the impeachment and “I am extra-careful to ensure that it does not have any adverse fallout on country’s crucial agendas like constitutional amendment or the local elections.”

Prachanda said Karki had undermined the government’s authority by announcing actions “against me when I was away on a state visit to India in mid-September”. He said he had a meeting with chiefs of two major parties — Sher Bahadur Deuba of the Nepali Congress and K P Oli of the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist “and we all agreed to go together over the impeachment.”
