BHOPAL: In a major relief to Congress leader KK Mishra, Madhya Pradesh High Court (MPHC) has stayed the arrest warrant issued by Bhopal court in connection with a case of alleged forgery registered at MP Nagar police station here.
Earlier, police in its charge sheet against Mishra, had alleged that he used forged documents during a press conference to level allegations against chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Subsequently, Bhopal court issued arrest warrant against Mishra and scheduled the next hearing of the case on November 3.
"High court issued notices to the complainant and ordered that no coercive action should be taken against petitioner," counsel for KK Mishra, advocate Ajay Gupta, told TOI.
"We apprised court of several things, including the fact that the case has been registered on political motivation," he said.
On June 11, 2015, Mishra held a press conference and alleged that a firm, SS Minerals, was allotted lease for manganese in Balaghat and the firm has links with the CM. He also distributed documents like copy of khasra and others to establish his allegations.
He said the mines were allocated to SS Minerals. However, a person named Sanjay Nayak later filed a complaint at Habibganj police station that the documents used by Mishra were forged.
