Damon Smith charged over suspicious device found on Tube at North Greenwich

A teenager has been charged after a suspicious device was found on the Tube last week.

Damon Smith, 19, has been accused of unlawfully and maliciously making or possessing an explosive substance with an intent to endanger life or cause serious injury to property, the Met said.

A controlled explosion was carried out and North Greenwich Underground Station evacuated when a suspicious item was discovered on an eastbound Jubilee Line train on 20 October.

Smith, from southeast London, will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday morning.

North Greenwich is a busy station that serves the capital's O2 music venue.
