Pedestrian killed in Onchan van crash named as Joan Corran

A woman who died after she was hit by a van in the Isle of Man has been named.

Joan Corran, 66, from Onchan, was pronounced dead at the scene near to Royal Avenue in Onchan, at about 09:50 BST on 18 October.

An inquest into her death is due to be opened by Coroner John Needham at Douglas courthouse on Thursday.

Police said a van driver is "assisting with their inquiries" and officers are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Det Insp Mark Newey said: "I would ask those drivers to contact the police if they saw the collision or the moments immediately prior to the collision."

Several roads were closed in the area following the Ms Corran's death.
