A 35 year-old man lost his life in a freak incident after a portion of a building’s parapet fell on him in Girgaum. The man, identified as Vaman Nerurkar, died on the spot, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the deceased was walking on the footpath when the parapet fell straight on his head. The victim was rushed to the Conwest and Manjula S Badani Jain hospital. Unfortunately, he was declared brought dead.

The BMC’s disaster management cell sources informed Mirror, “The workers were cutting down a tree. During the process, a cable wire that ran up to the building got entangled and created a strain on the building portion. Following this, the portion fell directly on the man’s head.” Doctors informed the paper that Nerurkar’s cerebellum suffered serious injuries.

“Nerurkar died because the blood supply to his brain had completely stopped,” doctors informed Mumbai Mirror.
