Minister visits Lower Subansiri project

Union minister of state for water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation Sanjeev Kumar Balyan on Tuesday visited the 2,000MW-Lower Subansiri hydro electric project at Gerukamukh.

ITANAGAR: Union minister of state for water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation Sanjeev Kumar Balyan on Tuesday visited the 2,000MW-Lower Subansiri hydro electric project at Gerukamukh.
The minister visited various sites of projects being executed by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC). He was apprised of the status of these projects by project officials, led by director (projects) Ratish Kumar.

Balyan also visited Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya at Kolaptukar village in Dollongmukh circle in Arunachal Pradesh.
Executive director of the project, Rakesh, gave a detailed presentation about the project. Executive director Ronel Kumar and other senior NHPC officials were also present.
While interacting with the officials, Balyan expressed hope that before his next visit, work on the project, which has been stalled for many years due to protest by anti-dam activists in Assam, would resume.
