MANGALURU: The Anjuman Khadimul Muslimeen Trust has urged the central government not to interfere with the practice of triple talaaq.
Hameed Khandak, president, Anjuman Khadimul Muslimeen Trust said, "Neither the government nor individuals have any right to destroy religious freedom. The Constitution has separate rights for individuals and religions. This is a drama created by the government."
"In the past 1,451 years, there have been no changes made to this tradition (of triple talaaq).
Now if changes are made because some people are forcing this issue, it will give rise to more problems in future. Let religion solve its own issues," he asserted.
"Triple talaaq is being misused over social media platforms. Just by saying talaaq three times, one does not get divorced. There are various conditions that need to be followed. It's a long process and there are various procedures to be undertaken," he explained.
