International Conference focusing World Peace

The 19th World Congress on Peace Education for Good Governance and Non-Violence was successfully hosted in the city on Tuesday.

NASHIK: The 19th World Congress on Peace Education for Good Governance and Non-Violence was successfully hosted in the city on Tuesday. The conference saw three back to back technical sessions and presentations by students and academicians on 'Nashik Darshan'.
Academicians focused how universities should teach about 'World Peace' which is a major issue at the moment.
The talks during the technical sessions were centered on how curriculum must keep changing.
There is a need to change the present education system and policy. Highlighting on the same, the secretary of Gokhale Education Society, Dr M S Gosavi, said, "I expect innovative changes in the existing and traditional curriculum which mostly focuses on imparting education. Education must be centered on making an individual a better person. It should focus on creating the environment in which the messengers of peace and non-violence are born to establish world peace."
The nuclear scientist chairing this technical session, Dr Shankarrao Gowarikar, said, "Youth and their potential should be directed towards establishing peace. It should be focused on science and technology heralding towards all-round development and bringing different worlds together will also play a vital role in establishing world peace.
Dr Vinayak Govilkar; well-known economist participated in this session, expressed the integrated and holistic needs to be applied to achieve peace through education.The conference began with lectures on 'Peace Education for Non-violence'. Delegates presented their research papers focusing on the process of promoting knowledge, skills, attitudes and values needed.
