KOCHI: Following the confusion over the mysterious 'appearance' of three idols in a private estate at Pattimattom near Kunnathunadu, the revenue divisional officer (RDO), accompanied by police, on Tuesday removed them under tight security.
The police said that the idols could have been placed by unknown persons in the estate on Sunday night, possibly to create a row over the ownership of the 2.5 acre land.

It was on Sunday morn ing that the owner of the rubber estate was informed by locals about the appearance of the stone idols. According to police, the estate owner was in Thiruvananthapuram when the incident happened. He later filed a complaint with the Kunnathunadu police, seeking action against those who had planted them in his property. Following the complaint, RDO took the idols into custody in the early hours of Sunday. The Kunnathunadu police said that a case has been registered under Section 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and Section 447 (criminal trespass) of IPC in connection with the incident. The police said that they have got hints about people who reportedly placed the idols in the estate.
Meanwhile, some section of the people in the locality has come forward with the claim that the estate comes under poramboke land. The complainant, meanwhile, told police that he got the land during partition of ancestral lands.
