BENGALURU: In a relief to Kannada actor Darshan Toogudeep, the high court on Tuesday ordered status quo on the proceedings initiated by the district administration against his house at Ideal Homes Layout in Raja Rajeshwarinagar.
Passing an interim order, Justice S Abdul Nazeer directed the government to file its response to the actor's petition.
During the hearing, the court wanted to know how the authorities could take possession of the property under provisions mentioned in the notice, particularly section 104 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act.

Earlier, the petitioner's counsel showed a photograph of the authorities pasting a notice on the wall of Darshan's residence, indicating that the government had taken possession of the house built on a 40x60 site.
However, the government advocate informed the court the land on which the actor built his house is a government kharab land. The authorities had issued notices to residents of Ideal Homes Layout on September 28, asking them to show documentary proof of their property.
