Vasundhara Raje will fly in a brand new
chopper as negotiations to purchase a new state helicopter have finally taken off. General administration department (GAD) has zeroed in a ‘buyback offer deal’ for a grounded chopper with its manufacturer
AgustaWestland. The deal is expected to be signed before March 2017.
As per the negotiations,
Agusta will buy back the existing chopper on its reserve price of Rs 12.50 crore.
The state government will pay the difference amount on procurement of a new helicopter from the same manufacturer.
According to the sources, two models AW169 (10 seat) and AgustaWestland Grand New (8 seat) have been identified for the purchase. Both helicopters have twin-engine and are in the price range of Rs 52 crore to 57 crore.
