Chief Minister Harish Rawat today said two Valmiki residential schools would be opened from the academic session 2017-18. He made the announcement at a Valmiki convention at Ghasmandi, Pull Jatwada, in suburban Jwalapur here.

Rawat said his government would provide maternity leave to women sanitation workers and government jobs to kin of deceased sanitation workers.

He said successful conduct of Ardh Kumbh from January to April, the Shravan Kanwar pilgrimage from July to August and Char Dham yatra that began in May and was still continuing were the major achievements of his government.

Sanitation Employees Commission president Kiran Pal Valmiki presented a demand letter to the Chief Minister, who assured him of seriously taking up their issues.

Ranked minister Sanjay Paliwal, Purushottam Sharma, District Magistrate Harbans Singh Chugh, SSP Rajeev Swarup and Valimiki convention organiser Ramesh Chand Chachar were present.
