COIMBATORE: Its speedy redressal of complaints related to sanitation and cleanliness has placed the city corporation among the top 10 cities in the Swachhata App, a mobile application launched by the Union urban development (UD) ministry for addressing complaints related to civic issues. The city corporation is far ahaed of its counterparts in Mysuru and Chennai.
So far, the civic body has received the maximum number of complaints - 541 of which 515 have been resolved.
Most complaints have been resolved within 12 hours. This complaint redressal forum is available to more than 4,140 towns and cities in the country of which 3,750 have made it available to their citizens. "We have the most number of complaints resolved, as the number one town Ambikapur in Chhattisgarhhas resolved only 63 complaints," said sanitary inspector K V Thirumal, incharge for swachh bharat mission in Coimbatore Corporation.
Another sanitary inspector Senthil Kumar said they get over 20 complaints daily. "Most complaints are from areas such as Podanur, Kurichi, Nanjundapuram, Saravanampatti, Ganapathy and Bharathi Park in Saibaba Colony. We ensure that they are resolved in 6 hours. We also update the complainant about the status of the complaint and text them the contact number of the officer," he said. The complainants can also post feedback after their complaint is resolved.
As per the MoUD department, it has received 3,500 complaints on the app from the 3,000 odd cities. Corporation commissioner K Vijayakarthikeyan said from the launch day, residents have been pro-active in registering complaints.
