MNS functionary attacked in Thane

THANE: Thane city president of MNS Womens wing 'Samiksha Markande' was attacked by some unidentified persons near Thane station area, late on Tuesday evening.
Police said that Samiksha (35) was attacked with iron rods on the head from behind by some unknown persons at around 8.45 pm. The incident happened near the Thane railway station and the badly injured victim was rushed to the Jupiter hospital where she is being treated it was stated.
A police officer quoting a doctor attending said that her condition was stable and she was kept under observation for the next 24 hours and presently a statement is underway after which the cas will be registered. The motive behind the attack and the attackers are still not known, the police said.
Samiksha happens to be the wife of the photographer of an English tabloid. She has been active in the local politics and was in forefront of the womens movement in the city.
