Zeishan Quadri
He grew up in Wasseypur (in Bihar), studied in Meerut, and then went to Mumbai to become a writer and director, but 'Gangs Of Wasseypur' co-writer Zeishan Quadri has a Noida connect too. The 33-year-old filmmaker worked with a BPO in the city for a few months, before going to Mumbai to try his luck in the film industry. "Noida se mera personal lagaav hai. When I worked here for a few months several years ago, I used to love the nightlife here.
And I don’t mean the pubs or discs, but the roadside vendors in Noida – the thele-wali nightlife. I would go to Sector 62 and have paranthas and momos. Even today, if I’m visiting Noida, I make it a point to go there. In fact, some of the vendors there recognize me. Woh kehte hain, bhaiya bade din baad aaye. Wahan mazaa aata hai," he tells us.

The filmmaker even shot certain sections of his debut venture Meeruthiya Gangsters in Noida. However, he says that outdoor shoots in the city are a challenge. Zeishan reveals that a lot of sequences that he was to shoot in Noida had to be done in Mumbai because of the notoriously busy roads of Noida. He says, "Sadly, I didn’t shoot outdoors in Noida. We had initially planned to shoot some outdoor shots near DND, but that couldn’t happen because of the rush. Flyover se itne log aate-jaate hain that the shoot takes time. We couldn’t block the traffic or wrap up the shoot in 15 minutes, so the Noida shots had to be done on Mumbai roads later."
