After November 1 was declared a holiday by the government on the occasion of Bhau Beej, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) has decided that those who had taken a prior appointment, to obtain a learner’s licence or permanent licence, will have the option of visiting the RTO on any of the next seven days.
“We have stopped taking appointments for that day after we received the holiday notification. However, we have already received several hundred applications through the online system. All of these applicants will be given the option of visiting the Pune RTO office and Deputy RTO Office in Pimpri-Chinchwad on any day between November 2 to 9 to get their work done,” said a statement by the RTO.
No driving tests will be held at the Institute of Driving Training and Research on November 1 and those who have booked an appointment for the test would be able to report for the same in the next seven days.
Meanwhile, Pune RTO is all set to launch a new series of four wheeler registration numbers next week and bids for “fancy numbers” would be accepted at the RTO office between 11 am and 2.30 pm until October 28.
As per the Central Motor Vehicle Act 1989, vehicle owners who want a number of their choice in the new series will have to provide a self-attested photo copy of their Aadhaar card, electricity bill or house tax receipt.
