“It is a dream come true for me,” Dick Wolf described his experience with the growing franchise based in the Windy City at a party held at Swift & Sons in Chicago Monday night.

The party was meant to primarily celebrate “Chicago Fire” reaching its 100th episode which wrapped shooting recently and airs later this year. But it was the spinoff “Chicago Justice” that was the subject of much conversation (besides the Cubs heading to the World Series, of course).

Wolf mentioned that “Chicago Justice” will premiere after Christmas but has yet to announce its exact air date. When asked what “Chicago Justice” brings to the growing franchise, actress Monica Barbaro who will play a whip smart Assistant State’s Attorney said, “It’s a true procedural. You can pick up anywhere in the season. I don’t think the other shows do that. You have to really know the characters.”

For fans of the early days of “Law & Order,” you’re in luck. Actor Jon Seda whose character will leave “Chicago P.D.” for the upcoming series described it as “kind of like ‘Law & Order’ with a Chicago twist. They’re not going to pull a lot of punches. They’re not afraid to talk about race and the judicial system.” The party continued late into the evening. The celebratory mood, like the “Chicago” television franchise itself, showed no signs of slowing down.

Guests at the event included all the major cast members and executive producers from “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med,” “Chicago P.D.,” and the upcoming “Chicago Justice.” Actors Taylor Kinney, Sophia Bush, Yaya DaCosta, Brian Tee, Philip Winchester, Joelle Carter, Carl Weathers, as well as executive producers Michael Brandt, Derek Haas, Andrew Schneider, and Diane Frolov were in attendance. Members of the Chicago’s “Hamilton” cast, including Chris De’Sean Lee who plays Thomas Jefferson, made a surprising arrival.

“Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Med” currently air on NBC, whereas “Chicago Justice” will premiere mid-season.
