The Yonkers Police Department and Fire Department gathered on Friday (Oct. 21) for their annual Toughman Competition charity event, and were met with a heart-warming speech by one of the night’s famous attendees, DMX.
“On February 8, [they] saved my life,” the legendary rapper told the room of policemen and firemen in a video TMZ released. “To go from, at one point running from the police to get away from shit — you know, to get away from what I was doing — to having those same police save my life…” Earlier this year, DMX was found unconscious in the Ramada Inn parking lot in Yonkers, NY, and was rushed to the hospital after cops performed CPR on the rapper, according to a TMZ report. “True heroes,” the MC repeatedly proclaimed of the event’s attendees. “I’m not speaking from what somebody else told me or someone else’s opinion, this is my personal experience!”
