Action demanded against Sea foods factory management for gas leak

Kakinada Oct 25 (UNI) The workers of CPI(M) and CITU divisional unit today staged dharna in front of the RDOs office in Peddapuram demanding action against the Nekkanti sea foods factory management for the failure in implementing safety measures in the factory.
They alleged that ammonium gas was leaked out in the plant leading to over 50 workers taking ill and suffering from respiratory problems due to negligence of the management. They raised slogans seeking justice to the workers who were taken ill and hospitalized.
The CITU district unit later demanded payment of Rs.5 lakh each towards compensation to 28 workers who were hospitalized with severe respiratory problems inhaling the toxic gases. G.Baby Rani secretary of the district unit of CITU in a statement has alleged that the Nekkanti sea foods factory management was not implementing labour laws and even the PF and ESIC facility was denied to the workers .
