KOLKATA: Brazilian legend Rivaldo made a whistle-stop visit to Kolkata to meet the footballers of the Delhi Dynamos team playing in the Indian Super League (ISL).
After landing at the Netaji Subash Bose International airport, Rivaldo had his breakfast and then came out to face the awaited media. "I am overwhelmed by the hospitality here. Thank you for everything," the World Cupper said waving to the fans.
He also posed to the photographers in a happy-go-lucky mood as well.
Rivaldo then went straight to the Delhi Dynamos team hotel on the bypass near Salt Lake to meet the players. In the evening he attended a discussion session with the team management also.
It was learnt that Rivaldo appeared to be a very down-to-earth person and met every player from coach Zambrotta to local player Souvik Chakraborty very cordially. He allowed the players to click selfies with him and even signed autographs for them on the team shirts.
Chakraborty was bowled over by the experience. "It was like a dream-come-true for me," Chakraborty said.
"Rivaldo said he had watched me play in an earlier ISL match. That in itself is enough for me," he stated. The Brazilian inspired all to give their best on the field.
The former AC Milan star believes football can bring Brazil and India closer. The former Brazilian forward said, "I hope the geographical distance between the two countries will get reduced with the footballing exchange between the countries."
The former Barcelona star promised to return to India again. "I might return soon," he stated before taking a flight back to Brazil.
