Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday addressed a press conference on the ongoing infighting in the party. The party patriarch conducted the conference with younger brother Shivpal Yadav sitting besides him. However, Akhilesh Yadav didn’t join the media interaction. Mulayam, trying to send out signals of a truce, repeatedly said that party and family are united in the time of crisis. However, he tried to evade all the direct questions asked to him during a press conference. Here are the 5 big takeaways from Mulayam’s media address:
1. Akhilesh Yadav to remain CM
Mulayam Singh Yadav said that no one in the party has an objection to Akhilesh Yadav’s chief ministership. “A lot of people are sitting here, does anyone have an issue with Akhilesh staying as CM?” he said. He also said that there is no question on taking over as CM from Akhilesh as only ‘two months’ were left for elections.

2. Mulayam stands by Amar Singh
Mulayam Singh Yadav said that some outsiders have orchestrated a conspiracy againts Amar Singh. He said these people have no base and are harming the party.
3. Ram Gopal Yadav not important
On a question asked about his cousin and expelled party leader Ram Gopal Yadav’s comments, Mulayam Singh Yadav said that former is not important. “His words have no importance now,” he said.
4. One Family, One Party
Mulayam Singh Yadav said that the party and family are united in the time of crisis. “Party is one, Family is one,” the SP chief reiterated atleast for five times.

5. No comments on Akhilesh Yadav’s future after 2017
The party chief, who had brother Shivpal Yadav sitting by his side, said that SP is a democratic party and decision of CMship will be taken after the elections. “Samajwadi Party is democratic party, the decision of chief ministership is taken once the elections are over,” he said.
