A meeting of Privileges Committee of Legislative Assembly was held here today under the chairmanship of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat.Shamim Firdous, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Rajiv Sharma, R .S. Pathania, Javaid Hassan Baig, and Bashir Ahmad Dar attended the meeting. .The meeting discussed the issue of adequate escort and security cover, besides bullet proof (BP) vehicles to the legislators.The meeting was informed that the Government has already initiated process of improving the security cover to the legislators and other VVIPs and will provide bullet proof vehicles and escort vehicles to legislators who have not such facility till date.It was decided that Police Department will provide private hired vehicles for escort purpose of such legislators till the Department procures vehicles for this purpose.The Committee asked the Principal Secretary Home to submit a proposal to the Government for purchasing of new vehicles including bullet proof vehicles for legislators.Principal Secretary Home R. K. Goyal, DGP K. Rajendra Kumar, IGP Security J&K, and other senior Police Officers attended the meeting.
