Maverick Vinales Could Beat Jorge Lorenzo For 3rd Place In The Championship
Jorge Lorenzo could lose his third place standing in the MotoGP 2016 Championship. Maverick Vinales is only eleven points adrift and could pop in a surprise at the Malaysian GP.
Maverick Vinales stands a chance to beat Jorge Lorenzo in MotoGP 2016 Championship standings. The Suzuki rider has displayed excellent form, however, the same cannot be said about the Yamaha rider.
Currently, Jorge Lorenzo is third in MotoGP 2016 Championship with 192 points. Maverick Vinales is in fourth place with 181 points. Only eleven points separate Vinales and Lorenzo for third place in the MotoGP Championship, which is vital for both riders.
Next MotoGP round will be contested in Sepang, Malaysia. The weather forecast for the entire weekend says there will be rain. Lorenzo has suffered throughout 2016 in wet conditions, however, Vinales could make the most during the 2016 Sepang GP to take over third place.
Vinales will be replacing Lorenzo at Movistar Yamaha team in 2017 MotoGP Championship. If Maverick Vinales manages to secure third place by beating Jorge Lorenzo, it would prove that Yamaha officials have made the right choice.
‘The Doctor', Valentino Rossi has lost the battle to Marc Marquez in the 2016 MotoGP Championship. Rossi seems to have settled for second place and it would be interesting to see if his future teammate Vinales would be capable of beating current teammate Lorenzo.
