NASHIK: The Upnagar police on Sunday rescued a one-and-a-half-year-old child and arrested his abductor within a day of registering the complaint.
The suspect, Kishor Godse, demanded a ransom of Rs 65,000 from Satish Ramesh Vidwans, who owed him Rs 4,000, the police said.
Godse had abducted Atharva, a resident of MSEB Colony along Jail road, around 8 pm on Friday.

According to the police, Satish Vidwans had borrowed Rs 4,000 from Godse in 2013 on the condition that he would be pay it back in installments. Over the past three months, Godse was demanding the money, but Vidwans was unable to pay.
Godse went to Vidhwans' residence to demand the money. When he did not get any cash, he took Atharva from his mother on the pretext of buying him a chocolate. However, he did not return after that.
The parents searched for the child at the Nashik Road bus stand, railway station and in other areas and finally lodged a case of abduction with the police around 2.30 pm on Saturday.
Under instructions from police commissioner
Ravinder Kumar Singal, DCP Srikant Dhivare and senior PI Ashok Bhagat, two squads were formed to rescue the boy.
On Sunday, Godse called the child's father and demanded Rs 65,000. He also threatened the parents that they would not get their child back if they failed to pay the ransom.
The parents immediately informed the police, who took assistance from the Technical Analysis Wing and traced the call to the Gangapur Road area. When the police called the number, the person said Godse had met him and he had a child with him. The man claimed Godse did not have money so he paid him Rs 20.
The police combed the areas of Mahatma Nagar, Old Gangapur Naka, Girnare and Trimbakeshwar and found Godse in the CBS area around 10.30 am on Sunday and rescued the child.
