Swine flu keeps off dist in last three months
Nashik: It seems that the district is free from the clutches of the deadly H1N1 virus at present.
According to the district health department, not a single case of swine flu has been recorded in any of the government or private hospital in the city or any part of the district.
Swine flu had claimed the lives of 87 people and infected 508 others in the district in 2015.
The last case of swine flu was recorded on July 15 at a private hospital.
District Health Officer Sushil Wackchaure said, "Most of the times, a cyclical trend is observed in such diseases. However, this does not rules out the possibility of the disease in the future, though the season after Diwali is considered to be healthy, when cases of infectious diseases are less."
Wackchaure said the disease can easily crop up again if there is migration of people, who carry the disease. "At the same time, viral disease can also be present in some people, who are not showing any symptoms due to good immunity and health," he said.
Officials said the cases of dengue have also dropped significantly in the district over the past few weeks, but change in the weather could play spoilsport any time.
