RANCHI: A new software, E-Vidya Vahini, has been developed by school education and literacy department and information technology and e-governance department for real time monitoring of government schools.
Education department secretary Aradhana Patnaik said, "All 40,000 government schools across the state will be linked with the software. School authorities will have to feed in details of admission, attendance of students and teachers and details of mid-day meal consumption.
This apart, teachers will also have to feed in marks of students obtained in every test."
The software has been designed specially to improve the quality of education.
"This way, we will be able to assess the schools individually and come up with separate strategies to improve them. Our main aim is to assess and improve the learning level of students," Patnaik said.
Training for operating the software at district level will begin post Diwali and the software will be installed across schools by January 2017.
Patnaik said, "Initially the software will be introduced in all the 203 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalyas and those schools which have computer and proper internet connectivity."
Tabs will be also provided to those schools who do not have computers. "The department will be bearing the cost for the tabs. We are working on the budget now," Patnaik said.
Meanwhile, government schools are being graded by the department into four categories, depending on education quality, infrastructure, activeness of school management committees and other factors, to assess the ground reality in schools. The assessment report for the same is likely to be released post Diwali.
