Mumbai: After remaining silent for many days, Shahid Kapoor finally decided to put all speculations of a “tiff” with Ranveer Singh over Deepika Padukone’s ‘Padmavati’ to rest.

The ‘Udta Punjab’ star, who will be essaying the role of Raja Rawal Ratan Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus based on Queen Padmavati, decided to speak on the controversy over the film.

According to a report in DNA, Shahid, while addressing reporters during an event said, “This is the stuff I have been reading in papers and I find it absurd when people say it is ‘two hero’ film. Even Udta Punjab had two heroes and two heroines. This film has three principle characters. To say it’s a two hero project is just a way of creating some kind of material which is exciting at a very frivolous level."

He added, "It’s a great opportunity for all three of us. It’s a great role for Deepika, it’s a fantastic role for Ranveer and great role for me. I am so happy that the film has been cast the way it has and it is getting made. I hope we come out with a great cinematic experience for the audience because that is what all of us want."

Shahid will essay the character of Padmavati’s husband while Ranveer will play the main antagonist – Alauddin Khilji.
