CANBERRA, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- In an effort to entice more young Britons to find work in Australia, a pop-up "Aussie beach" will open in London, Australia's trade minister confirmed on Tuesday.

The makeshift sandy beach will open at one of London's busiest tube stations, Victoria, and Tourism Australia has said it will attempt to sell the laid-back Aussie lifestyle to Britons looking for a change in their work life.

Australia's Trade Minister Steve Ciobo said Australia's low backpacker tax, high backpacker wages and lowered visa costs were all enticing prospects, but he told News Corp he wouldn't be fully embracing the "beach lifestyle" while in London.

"The idea is to entice young Britons to come to Australia on a working visa," Ciobo told The Australian newspaper on Tuesday.

He said overseas workers play a vital role in Australia's economy, particularly with the summer fruit picking season approaching.

"Working holiday makers contribute around 2.2 billion U.S. dollars to Australia's visitor economy each year, creating jobs and driving economic growth," Ciobo said.

"They also help meet our seasonal labor force needs in agriculture and tourism.

"Working holiday makers are a particularly important source of labor for seasonal jobs such as fruit picking and in seasonal tourist areas when local labor availability is often insufficient."

According to the trade minister, the beach promotion is just one part of a 7.5-million-U.S. dollar campaign to bring more British workers back down under, following a 9 percent dip in Britons taking up the "backpacker visa" in 2015-16.
