SURAT: Gujarat government on Monday trimmed the limits of Surat Urban Development Authority (SUDA) within two months of expanding it. At least 52 villages of Olpad, Mangrol and Kamrej talukas of Surat district have been taken out of the jurisdiction of SUDA. Earlier, the state government had similarly excluded some villages from the limits of Navsari Urban Development Authority (NUDA) and Bardoli Urban Development Authority (BUDA).

Two months ago, SUDA expansion saw its limit extended to 148 villages and spread over in an area of 722 sq km. However, farmers of many villages were not happy with this development, which compelled the state government to exclude 52 villages from SUDA limits. This makes SUDA 40 per cent smaller now. The villages excluded from SUDA limits include 29 of Olpad, 22 of Kamrej and one of Mangrol.
