COIMBATORE: Two days after TOI reported, that a road in Vedapatti was being dug up hardly three months after being laid, a ward councillor has filed a petition requesting for details on funds spent on laying the road, existing availability of water pipeline connectivity and its money value.
Councillor of ward 6 in the Vedapatti panchayat, P Jagannathan, petitioned the collectorate trying to understand the need to dig the road.
"The panchayat claims that the roads in Vedapatti, including the Sathya Nagar main road, have been dug up to lay pipelines under the Athikidavu water scheme," he said.
"So I have asked them to disclose specifics and cost of the pipelines laid under the existing Bhavani water scheme, which is critcial to understand if we even need water under the Athikidavu water scheme," he said.
The councillor said he approached the collector, since the panchayat officials were not sharing the details, claiming they do not have them. "It is still a mystery on why they would lay the road three months earlier before a water scheme work begins," he asked.
Jagannathan has asked to know how much was spent on laying the Sathya Nagar Road and how they plan to relay it.
