The Palliative Care Centre of Tanda medical college has started providing palliative services to patients in remote areas. To mark the hospital’s Founder’s Day on October 23, a team comprising Dr Parveen Sharma and Nurse Rajani visited patients in Pathiar, Kardiana, Sidhpur, Sukked and other places. The centre was inaugurated on September 14 by Health Minister Thakur Kaul Singh. Services will be provided to those patients who are weak or old.

Dr Parveen Sharma said those who wanted to avail the benefits, could bring the patient to the Palliative Care Centre and get him/her registered. The doctors will visit the patient once in two-three weeks, depending on his/her condition. Principal Dr Anil Chauhan said more than 20,000 people needed palliative care every year. Himachal could not take the initiative earlier because of financial constraints. Sharma said all possible help would be provided to the centre.
