Took exam in 2014, labourer’s son awaits Class X result

Rajesh Urao, a student of Government Senior Secondary School, Ghanahatti, has been waiting for his Class X examination result for the past two years. Seeing children his age go to school rekindles his hope of joining them one day. Rajesh’s father is a Bihari migrant.

He appeared in the examination conducted by the Board of School Education in 2014. Due to some reasons, he could not take the practical exam. After returning from Bihar, he was permitted to take the practical exams.

But his hard work went down the drain when his science teacher did not submit the result.

He was given provisional admission in Class XI and even after appearing in the Class XI examination, Rajesh’s Class X result was not declared. Now, he has been running from pillar to post to get the result declared.

He is genuinely worried as in case, the Class X result is not declared, his three years will be wasted and he will have to reappear in both Class X and Class XI examinations.

Sources in the school said Rajesh appeared in the practical examination, but his marks were reportedly not sent to the school board in the prescribed form. “He has already appeared in the Class XI examination and when he enquired he was shown as “absent” in the practical examination, which is contrary to facts,” they said.

Meanwhile, the said science teacher was transferred and the principal of the school retired.

The matter remains unresolved. However, the new principal found merit in the case as he was not at fault and took up the matter with the school board, but the latter’s response is awaited.

The school board authorities said the case was not in their knowledge and they would be able to comment only after scanning the records.
