AMMAN — The Civil Defence Department (CDD) on Monday completed the Urban Search and Rescue project, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Swiss embassy in Amman said.
Switzerland started cooperating with the CDD in 2003 to build capacity in natural and man-made hazard response, the embassy said in a statement.
Jordan reached the “heavy level” international standard in 2013, becoming the first Arab team to reach the category.
Since then, Switzerland has continued its cooperation to ensure the sustainability of the project, the embassy said, citing a “training the trainers” programme by Swiss civil defence instructors.
