DGP Jacob Thomas didn't say about quitting, says Pinarayi Vijayan

He said that the Vigilance director would be given full freedom to function.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Vigilance DGP Jacob Thomas had not given a letter stating that he was quitting his post. “Nonetheless, he has expressed certain wishes. That has become news, too. But the government had not agreed to his wishes,” the Chief Minister said in the Assembly on Monday. He said that the Vigilance director would be given full freedom to function.

“The law will take its own course,” he said. “We will not do anything to weaken a conscientious officer like Jacob Thomas,” he added. The Chief Minister also insinuated that certain people at the receiving end of the Vigilance DGP’s anti-corruption crusade were trying to put hurdles in his work. “People react differently to police cases. Though I had many cases foisted upon me, I was least bothered. But there are many who are intolerant,” he said.
