KOLKATA: Good news for individuals who are eyeing to get residential plots in New Town. The Mamata Banerjee government is opening up new avenues again for middle class Bengalies to aspire to get residential plots of two to three cottah of size in New Town to set up their own houses.
According to sources from the state secretariat, a total of 100 small plots ranging from two to three cottahs in New Town Action Area II will be allotted through e-auction for residential purposes.
The plan was discussed and approved in the state cabinet meeting held at Nabanna on Monday.
Sources said that process of allotting small individual residential plots in New Town will take place almost after eight years. A few acres of bulk land for residential purposes have been allotted in the last few years but it was last in 2008 during the previous Left run government’s time that small plots were distributed for individual residential plot seekers in the township. Sources said that the Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation will soon start on the process to float tenders to invite bidders for the plots. Sources said that the plots would be allotted based on the present market price.
