LUCKNOW: A yatra for wish fulfilment landed minister in Akhilesh Cabinet, Ravidas Mehrotra to Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences here on Monday.
Talking to TOI, chief medical officer, SNS Yadav, said, "the minister had injured his legs while walking on the path of kamadgiri parikrama, a religious practice followed in Chitrakoot wherein the devotee has to walk barefoot.
The injuries developed sepsis which caused high grade fever and he landed to the hospital."
Mehrotra, who holds the family welfare portfolio, had developed high grade fever following septic infection in one of his legs. Undergoing treatment at SGPGI's cardiology department, Ravidas has a known history of diabetes which aggravated the problem. "The minister is stable but under observation," CMO said.
To note, Kamadgiri is the main holy place of Chitrakoot Dham. The Sanskrit word ‘Kamadgiri’ means the mountain which fulfils all the wishes and desires. The place is believed to have been the abode of Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman during their exile.
It is believed that walking along the five kilo meter long pilgrimage path ensures fulfilment of all wishes.
