Mirwaiz Umar Farooq moved to his house

SRINAGAR: Moderate Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was moved to his home from detention at Cheshma shahi sub-jail on Monday.

Srinagar, October 24

Moderate Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was moved to his home from detention at Cheshma shahi sub-jail on Monday.

Mirwaiz was placed under detention when militant commander Burhan Wani was killed on July 8.

He, hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and separatist Yasin Malik were on the forefront of the Kashmir unrest and had been issuing weekly shutdown calls under "joint resistance" leadership.

Although Mirwaiz was initially kept under house arrest at Nigeen residence, he was later moved to Cheshma Shahi hut, designated as a sub-jail.
