Saturday's impressive Cheltenham winner Fox Norton will have an entry in the 188BET Haldon Gold Cup next week.

Trainer Neil Mulholland mooted in the immediate aftermath that the six-year-old would be heading for the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham next month.

However, given his obvious good form, connections are minded to at least give their 11-length scorer the option of Exeter's feature race.

"He'll get an entry in the Haldon Gold Cup next week," said Mulholland.

"We talked about the Shloer on Saturday and obviously that's still an option too, we'll just see."

On the same Cheltenham card Mulholland's Shantou Village maintained his unbeaten record over fences after surviving a bad blunder at the final open ditch.

"He did well to stand up really, he landed right on it," said Mulholland.

"He's still learning, it's early days and at this stage it's all about experience. We got the result we wanted at least. Whether he runs again before the ground turns soft I'm not sure, we'll just see."

Another couple of 'Saturday' horses Mulholland has to look forward to are Carole's Destrier and Southfield Royale, the latter having been second in the Feltham and fourth in the National Hunt Chase last season.

"Carole's Destrier will go for the Badger Ales Trophy at Wincanton in a couple of weeks and then the London National like last year," said the Wiltshire handler.

"Southfield Royale will be out a bit later, maybe Christmas, and he'll be aimed at all the staying chases."
