ADHM row: Demanding Rs 5 crore for Pakistani talent is unpatriotic and against national interest, says Uddhav Thackeray

It is neither patriotic nor in national interest to allow Pakistani actors in the film industry for a compensatory amount of Rs 5 crore, says Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. “We oppose Pakistan at all times. But now if someone is saying that by paying Rs 5 crore, you can bring Pakistani artistes to the Indian film industry then you are continuing to give them opportunity and trying to accommodate them. It does not sound patriotic or in the national interest to me,” Thackeray said told The Indian Express.

Earlier Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray had demanded a contribution of Rs 5 crore to the Army Welfare fund by the producers before casting Pakistani talent in the wake of protest against the release of Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The producers of the movie reportedly conceded the demand at a meeting held at the residence of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis.

Uddhav further said that that political parties should not stoop down to the level of questioning the veracity of any army operations.
“Firstly, taking credit for the Army operation by central government is distasteful and demeaning. Moreover, political parties calling it fake is a derogatory, and leaders must refrain and stand by the Indian Army instead,” he said.

The Shiv Sena chief added: “How long will Pakistan-occupied Kashmir remain with Pakistan? It is part of Indian territory, isn’t it? This must be the first surgical strike and it must continue until PoK is brought within the fold of the Indian territory.” Uddhav demanded 1971 like Military action against Pakistan in order to take PoK back.
