PM calls for breaking SP-BSP cycle; says BJP can make UP 'Uttam Pradesh'

PM calls for breaking SP-BSP cycle; says BJP can make UP 'Uttam Pradesh'

Mahoba, Oct 24(UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today blamed the previous Bahujan Samaj Party and the present Samajwadi Party responsible for the backwardness of Uttar Pradesh, particularly in Bundelkhand region, saying that only BJP government in the state can convert it into an 'Uttam Pradesh'. "UP has given many PMs to the nation. UP has a claim on me as well. And I want to do more work than all those PMs put together," he said while appealing to the people to break the ongoing cycle of power between SP and BSP. Addressing a public rally here in the backward Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh to launch the election campaign for the coming 2017 assembly polls, he said, "Modi raaj karne kay liye paida nahin hua hai, Modi apne aap ko seva ke liye nikla hai." The Prime Minister was very critical on the role of the BSP and SP governments in UP alleging that,"money was provided to Bundelkhand for several projects, and yet no work was done here." "This land of UP is our mother, and we won't let our mother be looted anymore," he stated while compared the works done in the BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh part of the Bundelkhand and in UP side. He said in most of the projects MP has completed while UP has not even started yet. Giving the reason for why people should support the BJP in this elections, Mr Modi said in one side there is a party which is fire-fighting to save the family, while the other party is all out to grab the power so that they can continue their misdeed. In third it is BJP, who is trying to protect the state and its people, he added. "If you want to escape this trap then you need to get out of this trap of SP and BSP. Both these parties loot in their own turns, and when the other comes to power they never take action against the other even after announcing it," he said while saying that SP-BSP-BSP-SP and the power keeps shifting, and in this game, this land never reached its potential. However, the Prime Minister also said the situation in UP is similar like 2014 elections when people had a clear cut opinion and thus voted enmass for the BJP which came to power with a landslide victory. "This time too people will support the BJP for a majority government in UP," he claimed. Focusing on the potential of Bundelkhand region and its people, the Prime Minister said the region is backward only due to some political ineffectiveness by the previous central government and the state governments. "The mafias rule here and they get all the projects only on paper while the people suffer," he alleged. He appreciated Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti, who was present there, about her ambitious project to link Betwa and Kane rivers in Bundelkhand. "The project when completed will change the condition of the farmers and the people and the land here will given gold," he stated while blaming the previous UPA government for delaying the river connecting project, which was a dream of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. "This land of Bundelkhand is special, it has shown calibre with sword and creativity with pen, he said. Mr Modi while starting his address also asked the citizens of the country to send their wishes to the jawans and security personnel on the border on the occasion of Diwali. "This Diwali, I have requested the citizens to dedicate message and a well wish for all our jawans & security forces," he added. The rally was also addressed by Ms Bharti and UP BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya. UNI MB AE 1513
