Of all the things Thala Ajith is popular for, taking his workouts seriously was not one of them. At least until now. The actor seems to be sweating it out at the gym to look the part for his forthcoming film, in which he plays an Interpol officer.

The latest pictures of Ajith reveal that the actor has been spending a good amount of time at the gym and it’s starting to show. Fans of Ajith have been sharing pictures with the Vedalam actor online, taken at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad where he is shooting for his untitled film. Ajith’s workout plans seem to be working for him as the actor looks much fitter and has clearly lost a lot of weight.

A couple of months ago, Ajith was photographed while shooting an action sequence involving choppers in Carinthia, Austria. No wonder, the local newspapers that published Ajith’s picture called him Indian Sylvester Stallone. The description of Kollywood star by international media was racy enough to send his fans into a tizzy.

For the record, Ajith was never bothered by his paunch or the actor’s fans never expected him to be in shape either. While his peers in the industry are setting high standards for looking macho, Ajith thwarted that perception by presenting himself on the big screen without altering his physical appearance. Also, fans and media don’t usually body shame actors down south as we see in other film industries.

But, in any case, Ajith showed his fans that heroes come in different shapes and sizes. Ajith is busy shooting for the upcoming spy thriller, which is tentatively called Thala 57 or AK 57. The film is directed by Siruthai Siva, which also marks his third collaboration with Ajith. Previously, the actor-director duo has delivered hit films like Veeram and Vedalam.

The film produced by Sathya Jyothi Films is expected to release in April next year.
