Gurgaon on high security for for PM’s visit

The police chief told cops to ensure that there is no laxity in the security arrangements and issued instructions for necessary changes near the venue.

GURGAON: The district police is all geared up for the prime minister and other VIP’s visit to the city. Gurgaon police commissioner conducted security checks on Sunday morning. The police chief told cops to ensure that there is no laxity in the security arrangements and issued instructions for necessary changes near the venue. Moreover, the deployment of security forces starts from Monday in Gurgaon.
Prime Minister Narender Modi will be in Gurgaon on November 1 for state’s golden jubilee celebrations.
The event will be organized at Tau Devi Lal stadium in sector 38. Besides Modi, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal and over a dozen chief ministers from other states will attend the event. Therefore, tight security arrangements are being made in Gurgaon. On Sunday morning. Police commissioner Sandeep Khirwar and other senior cops inspected the venue on Sunday morning. He has asked the cops to ensure that no spot in and around the venue should go unsupervised.
Public gathering near the venue will not be allowed and the auto stands near Rajeev Chowk and Subhash Chowk will be shifted till the event gets over. The administration has decided to impose section 144 near the venue where the VIPs will arrive to mark the celebrations. The district administration has already issued orders to impose section 144 within 2,000 meters of the venue on October 31 and November 1.

Sources reveal that it is not yet confirmed whether the PM will come by road, air or metro rail. Therefore, security arrangements are being made for all three modes. “Three helipads will be built in Leisure Valley ground in sector 29 in case PM arrives by helicopter. Even if the PM arrives via road or metro rail, these helipads can cater to other VIPs if there are more guests arriving by helicopter,” a senior cop told TOIA.
The metro rail will be put on alert and tight vigils will be done near the Gurgaon’s five metro station in Gurgaon. In fact, it is possible that new visitors to the metro parking lots will may not be allowed on the day of the event.
Around 4,500 cops will be deployed in Gurgaon during the event. The security forces have started to arrive in the city and will take their positions from Monday. Besides this, mounted force, commandoes, sniper, bomb disposal squad, dog squad, Special Weapons And Tactics force, Rapid action force, quick response team and special protection group too have arrived in the city. The mounted force and commandos inspected the venue too on Sunday.
