Nico Rosberg was only able to finish the sunny Texan race second. He can still clinch the title by only finishing second in the remaining rounds. With this win, Hamilton has four wins under his belt in Texas in five seasons.
The Briton said, "This has always been a good hunting ground for me. I love being here in the States, it very much feels like home. All I can do is do my best and continue to drive as I have this weekend. Nico has been driving fantastically well all year so the battle will continue."
Rosberg finished 4.5 seconds behind with Daniel Ricciardo in third. The German now has 331 points to Hamilton's 305. Both the silver arrow drivers are the only ones in the title contention.
The Mercedes team has already won the constructor's championship for the third year in a row. Last year, in the same circuit, Hamilton had won his third title after Rosberg had issues in the race.
