Grandma ties the knot in self-designed dress
    2016-10-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

MORE than 50 years ago, Millie Taylor-Morrison worked as a model for Belle Mead modeling agency in New Jersey.

Which is hardly surprising when you take into account how incredible the 86-year-old bride looked on her wedding day earlier this month.

After the beautiful grandmother designed her own beautiful purple wedding dress, her granddaughter, Khadija Elkharbibi, took to Facebook to post a photo of her stunning “Nana Millie” on her Big Day.

The photo has made waves around the world since it was later shared on the Love What Matters page — it currently has over 97,000 likes and several thousand shares.

“This is my beautiful grandmother, Millie Taylor-Morrison, who was married over the weekend at 86 years old,” Elkharbibi posted, alongside a photograph of her grandmother.

“She just turned 86 one week ago, and her new husband will be 86 in December.

“My grandmother was married to my grandfather for 41 years when he passed away. She found love again almost 25 years later and our family couldn’t be happier for her.

“This is a true testament that age is just a number and everyone can find love again.”

Elkharbibi said that Morrison always had an image in her head of what she wanted to look like on her recent big day.

“Nana started the process in July with a clear idea in her head of what she envisioned herself looking like.

“She had one of her church members, Mathew Purefoy — who sketches — draw the dress, based off her description of how she wanted it to look.

“She then took the sketch to designer, Marco Hall, who brought the dress to life.”

In a crazy turn of events, it turns out Morrison has known her husband-to-be, Harold Morrison, for six decades.

The 85-year-old man was even a guest at her first wedding many years ago.

For the past few years, Morrison had been helping Harold after he got sick, driving him to church every Sunday and eventually moving in to help to take care of him.

Soon after Harold got better, the couple decided to get married.(SD-Agencies)
