THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In his hurry to project himself as a scourge against
corruption,
PWD minister
G Sudhakaran targeted the wrong official. When vigilance wing of PWD submitted a report showing major discrepancies in work executed under the second phase of
Kerala State Transport Project (KSTP-II), the minister responded immediately by suspending project director P G Suresh.
Worse, he replaced Suresh with
Road Infrastructure Company Kerala Limited managing director J Raveendran, who was actually the one who approved all the faulty deals in his earlier capacity as chief engineer at
KSTP.
The vigilance wing of PWD, in its preliminary inquiry, had exposed unscientific preparation of detailed project reports for Thiruvalla bypass and Ponkunnam-Thodupuzha road which resulted in cost overrun.
