THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
KPCC president
V M Sudheeran has demanded that chief minister
Pinarayi Vijayan should relinquish the home portfolio as he has failed in controlling the top brass of the police force. This has led to a bad state of affairs in the state police, both at the administrative and law and order levels, he said.
"The home department has been in the news for all the wrong reasons for quiet sometime.
Added to this is the differences of opinion among the top officers. The state has never witnessed such a situation before. This shows the failure of the
chief minister in controlling the department," the KPCC president told reporters here on Sunday.
The people of the state have watched in surprise how a person languishing inside a jail could threaten people outside over his mobile phone. This has exposed the nexus between the criminals and the police force in the state. Criminals are having a gala time even inside the jails in
Kerala, he alleged.
This is happening at a time when the state is witnessing brutal political killings. The police, which should be acting tough in controlling the political killings, are instead helping the criminals lodged inside the jails in the state. Criminal and quotation gangs are ruling the roost in the state. There is a total failure on the part of the chief minister, who is heading the home department, in controlling the situation, alleged Sudheeran.
