BILASPUR: Families of two minors, who were allegedly killed by the police after the two were branded as Maoists in Dantewada district of strife-torn Bastar region, have approached the Chhattisgarh High Court seeking justice.
Narku and Paikru, fathers of two tribal boys Vimlu, 13, and
Sonalu, 16, reached the high court along with their counsel Satish Chandra
Verma to inform the court that their minor children were killed by the police after being branded as Maoists.
According to the parents, the two had gone to
Garda village to inform a sister about a death in the family. The two were walking through the forested area but had to halt at a place on the way as it had become dark.
A police team spotted them near the village at night and enquired about their credentials. The complainants who hail from Maldu village told Chief Justice Deepak
Gupta that the boys showed their Aadhaar and school identity cards but the police still killed them. Gupta asked the counsel of the victims' families to file a petition at the earliest so that the hearing could commence soon.
Counsel Verma also informed the court that the fathers fear for their lives and somehow managed to reach the high court. After hearing his plea, Chief Justice Deepak Gupta instructed him to ensure the safety of the two.
