SILCHAR: Jaraitola High School in Cachar district acknowledged the sacrifice of one of its bravest alumnus,
BSF lance naik Chinmoy Bhomik who died fighting militants in Jammu & Kashmir in 1999, by renaming its science laboratory after him. Bhomik studied in the school till 1980 and joined BSF in 1985.
The slain soldier's brother, Santosh, other family members and prominent citizens of the area attended the renaming ceremony which was organized by the paramilitary force as part of its programme of honouring
martyrs in their alma mater.
Brikrampur High School in the same district also honoured alumnus Ravinder Sinha, a BSF constable who died on duty along the India-Bangladesh border, by renaming its computer lab after him. The soldier's father Govendra, a retired principal, was also honoured by the BSF.
