VARANASI: The annual sports festival of Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University's (IIT-BHU)
Spardha'16, concluded on Sunday.
The three-day fest wrapped up with a night studded with the presence of Indian hockey star
Dhanraj Pillay, squash ace
Ritwik Bhattacharya and Balbir Singh Sr, who was the first sportsperson to be honored with the
Padma Shri in 1957.
The enthusiasm reached its crescendo on the last day of the fest.
The quarter finals, semi-finals and finals of most of the events including relay, javelin throw and triple jump in athletics, power lifting, Kho-Kho, football, boxing, handball, squash, cricket, table tennis, hockey and volleyball among others were held at various grounds including Gymkhana, Rajputana, ADV, King's Pavilion were held on Sunday.
According to Spardha convenor, IIT-BHU emerged as winners in Taekwondo (boys) and IIT Roorkee was declared runner up while in Taekwondo (girls) IIT-Roorkee beat IIT-BHU. In Handball IIT-BHU defeated SPA
Bhopal.
